Mount Damavand is one of the most beautiful Iran mountains and a symbol of majesty and glory for Iranians and has long played a significant role in literature and history of the country. This mountain has always been mentioned in the legends of Persia.
In many religions and beliefs, mountains are holy places. This is why the poets of the mountain have long existed in the ancient poetry. Iran’s Mount Damavand is the symbol of stability. It is based on the stories of Arash that throw his spear above the usual boundary between Iran and Turan to determine the fate of the country. Over the past 100 years, the image of this mountain has been published with awe in the bills of Iran. Alborz Mountain or Damavand is located in northern part of Iran, and is known as the highest volcanic peak in Asia.
Damavand is the second highest Iran mountains plateau of Iran and the Middle East with a height of 5,510 meters. This volcanic peak erupted 38,500 years ago, and the possibility of its activation remains unknown. The diameter of the volcanic crater that is now covered with ice is 400 meters.
The fox, jackal, goat, dog, wolf, ram, hog, rabbits and some species of birds such as golden eagles, and bats are form the major part of Damavand’s life. The temperature around the mountain varies between 60 and 2 degrees below zero. Unfortunately, the excessive hunting of cattle, mining and road construction has caused this unique glory to be seriously damaged. The height of 2000 to 3500 meters in this mountain range is covered with ice and snow in spring. Unfortunately, this mountain is also in serious danger because of the wastes produced by the visitors.
This beautiful summit is visible from the cities of Tehran, Qom and Varamin, but it is better to travel to Tehran or Damavand to climb it. The main routes to climb the summit of this mount are marked on four fronts. Although most routes are turf, but it’s best to climb with a group. The southern side, which begins on the southeast of Mount Damavand, is the most popular climbing route. That’s one of the most famous Iran mountains.
Sabalan is the third highest peak in Iran and one of the most beautiful Iran mountains in the country that has many valuable sites. This mountain can be considered as an ideal destination for traveling and pedestrians.
Iran is located on mountainous belts, so that in every area of this country, you can see many beautiful peaks. The north and northwest regions are no different from this and have their own special places. Sabalan White Mountain is one of the mountainous regions of Iran, which is beautiful.
Sabalan or Turkish-Azerbaijani “Savalan” with a height of 4811 meters after the peak of Damavand and Alam Mountain is the third highest peak of Iran. Natural mountain springs, unique nature and the presence of glaciers and permanent snow that have created the ski resort are among the most important attractions in the area.
Sabalan has a total of 3 famous peaks. The largest peak is known to the Sultan. The other two peaks are called Heram and Kasra. Sabalan is one of the volcanic and inactive Iran mountains which starts from the Garashou valley in the northwest of Ardebil and extends to the east to the mountain of Ghoshdagh. The volcanic cone of Sabalan chains occupy 1,200 square kilometers of surface lava. The charming thing about this mountain is the presence of a lake on top of the summit that attracts a lot of people to this area.
It’s almost possible to say that climbing the mountains or using hot springs is the best thing to do when traveling to Sabalan. The most common route is northeast, which begins at Shabil Spa in the south of the city of Lahrud on the Ardabil road to Meshgin Shahr and leads to the summit by passing the sanctuary.
Fortunately, the path to the sanctuary is up to the summit, and there are also flags of guidance along it. Even if you are a beginner climber, you can take the easy way and reach the summit within a few hours (during the summer).
If you want to challenge yourself a little bit, then get on the hardest route, you should choose the southern route and climb the summit from that side. It’s better to know that this route has no shelter and there are huge pieces of stone on your way. The Alvares ski resort is also located in this direction. That’s one of the most beautiful Iran mountains.
The Alborz and Zagros Iran mountains are each considered a symbol of Iran. But Iran mountains like Taftan, which do not fit into any of the above mentioned mountains, still have many attractions.

In addition, a very rich and varied vegetation, drinking water and agricultural glaciers, as well as animal ecosystems, provide a very important place for the mountains. Mount Taftan is one of the beautiful and high mountains of Iran that has such features.
Taftan is the only active volcanic Iran mountains in Iran. This mountain is located in the southeastern region and in Sistan and Baluchestan province. It is located 4042 meters above sea level, and is considered among the highest mountains in the country.
This is one of the Iran mountains which has many peaks. “Forty Tans” is the name of the Taftan volcanic peak, which has a height of 4036 meters. Almost all of its peaks are located 100 km from Zahedan.
At Taftan heights, there are three lakes known as the “Darya Sar”, which two of them are in the northern part of Taftan, and their water is shallow and sweet, and the other is relatively large and salty water.
Normally precipitation and snow storage in Taftan is less than the Dena and Damavand Mountains, which is because of the geographical features of the area.
Khash, which is in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, is the closest city to Taftan. So in order to climb the mountain, you must first go to this city. If you travel from Khash to Zahedan to the north of Khash, after about 20 kilometers, you will see a large panel showing the path to Taftan access. In the opposite way, from Zahedan to Khash, you should travel about 130 km to reach the outskirts of Tamandan and Kusha villages. After that, you should take about 28 kilometers to reach Taftan.
It is possible to climb the peaks of Taftan in all months of the year, however, winter can be challenging with heavy and cold winds. If you are not a professional hiker, you can also experience a satisfying experience by climbing part of this Mountain.
The Dena Mountain Range is one of the tallest Iran mountains and the largest part of Zagros Mountains in Iran. This mountain is approximately 90 km and is located between Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad, Esfahan and Fars provinces.
This beautiful mountain range has 49 peaks above 4000 meters. In the case of Dena, there is a folk error, it is not a summit, but a mountain range.
From Bijan Bridge to the height of 3200 m to the west of the Murgland Cape at a height of 4100 m, it has 18 peaks above 4000 m.
Kal Pazni, Kal Shor, Chat Souz
This area is the most pristine and far reaching Dana peak. And there are only a few limited paths to reach the altitudes of this section, most of which are unusable in the winter. There is no detailed information about the winter ascents of some parts of the western side. But some of the peaks in this side, such as “Qalat Bazi”, “Eastern Khersan”, “Western Khersan” and “Chal Mahal”, have not yet climbed in the winter.

The best and closest way to climb this highest peak, which has the highest number of climbers after the Dall, is Khfar village from the northern front.
Guide to Climbing Bijan 3 Peak or Mastan Mountain:
From the village of Khafar in the west direction, we cross the beautiful apple gardens to the top of the Tang Hal Ghariban. Next to and opposite the water channel, there is the gardens in the west direction. After 3 hours of climbing, you will reach a metal shelter. (Due to the lack of a safe haven in the course, it is necessary to get along with the guide and enough information.) Of course, from the narrow Khafar waterfall, there is also a path from the gardens to the shelter.
Sahand, one of the highest mountains in Azerbaijan and the most important silent volcanic mountain in Iran, is snowy throughout the year. Sahand slopes are covered with flowers and basil and tulip during the year. Because of the massive number of herbs, lawns, grasses and meadows, this place is famous for the bride of the mountains in Iran. Sahand, Sultan, Damirli, Hagghogh, Mutal Daghi, Ghani, Gharib, Ghiro Daghi, Atashan, Darvish and Kamal are among the most important peaks of Sahand mountain range.
Sahand mountainous area has cold weather. The rainfall in this area ranges from 300 to 600 mm per year. In terms of climate classification, the Sahand area is in the range of areas with a height of more than 2000 meters. The presence of mild summer and cold and long winters are characteristic of these areas.
On the slopes and valleys of Sahand, where there are excellent pastures and fluffy grasslands, a number of Azerbaijani settlers have long been allowed to practice nomadic routines and traditions.
There are several ways to reach this summit:
The southern route to the origin of Girakh Bulaq: This route is one of the easiest and shortest ways to climb Sahand. To reach the mountain from this side, you must first go from Tabriz to Maragheh. The distance between them is 135 kilometers and it requires a maximum of 2.5 hours. From Maragheh we can climb two ways. Origin of the first route from Maragheh and after about 8 km on the main road to Hashtrood (Saraskand) to the north and villages of Karaj Abad. After Around 41 km of asphalt road, you will eventually reach Bulaq. This route will be used more than the second route to which it will be referred. The second route starts from the same place and after a distance of about 30 km in the main road to Hashtrood in the village of Kharravi to the left (north), and finally, after about 50 km, you will reach to the Qaryar Bulak.
The northern route to the climb, the village of Sprachoun (White Chuan): This route will be beautiful and diverse for mountaineers who want to use more of their leisure time. The origin of the climb in this direction is the village of Sprachoun. This village is located on the northern slopes of Sahandabad and it is located 35 km away from the city of Tabriz.
The northern route: This route starts from Tabriz and after passing about 45 km, and after crossing the Basmeni village and the villages of Herbi and Birjag finally will end in the village of Lighvan at a height of 2300 meters. For this purpose, you can use the local minibuses that are used every day from Tabriz Street to the village of Lighvan and vice versa. From Lighvan, our route passes through the gardens and fields southward and on the bridge, which is closed on the Basmenian River. After about 2 to 3 hours, we will proceed to a regional area.
Eastern route: To reach to the summit of mountain from this direction, you should use this route from the Tehran-Tabriz gateway to reach Bostan Abad about 60 km through the transit road. From Bostan Abad, take the local minibus to the village of Chichkulu, at a height of 2500 meters. From Bostan Abad, and after crossing three other villages, you eventually reach the village of Chichkulu. The distance between Tabriz and Bostan Abad is one hour and the unpaved road from Bostan Abad to Chichkulu village is almost 2 hours.
The Binalud mountain range is located in the geographical location of Khorasan Razavi province. The natural part of Binalud Peak with an area of 1600 hectares is considered the protected area with 67 thousand hectares of which belong to Nishapur. The goal of this measure was to protect the environmental diversity of the region as much as possible. The highest point of the Binalud mountain range is the Shekbad peak at a height of 3420 meters. This peak is located in the north of the village of Bojan (northeast of Nishapur city). The Binalud mountain range is approximately 130 km long from the north of Neishabur to the southwest of Quchan. And the plain of Nishapur is separated from the plains of Mashhad and Quchan.
Three continental rivers of Kashafrud, Atrak and Kal Shur are started from this mountain range. Additionally, relatively shallow rivers such as the Mirabad, Zashk, Torqabeh, Akhlamad, Bojan, Khoreh, Bar, and Dizbad upstream rivers flow in the Khorram valleys. Most of these rivers are used for irrigation of gardens and agricultural land. Rhubarb is one of the most famous and best-selling plants in this mountain range. And in the northwestern part of the Binalud mountain range, the shrubbery can be seen. The ice from the winter and spring precipitation often remain on the peaks until mid-summer. The villages and beautiful scenery such as Bojan, Akhlamad, Zoshk, Torqabeh, Khour, Bar and Dizbad are among the magnificent places in this mountain range.
The most famous mountain of Khorasan province with the height of 3211 meters is located a few kilometers north of the city of Nishapur. This mountain is part of Alborz mountain range and is famous for the roof of Khorasan. This mountain is located between Nishapur and Mashhad. Regarding the hot and dryness of the area, there is a significant rainfall (approximately 400-500) mm per year. From the other summit of this mountain range, we can refer to the Shir Abad (3250) Falsakeh (3100) Ghochgar (3050). In the northern part of this mountain range there is a sub-mountain that has rocky valleys with a height of 200-300 meters. The most famous and the most water-filled waterfall in this area is called Akhlamad that is 40 meters high.
Due to the pleasant and temperate weather, the area has a good vegetation, and there are many car plants in the region, such as Gon, Rhubarb, Thyme, Barberry, Cucumber, Cumin, Gelper, and Mozir. Due to the same vegetation diversity, the region also has an appropriate animal cover, and can be seen in the area, including animals such as rams, ewes, eagles, leopards, wolves, jackals and foxes.
